Tru Blue is artist Andre Ponticello’s practice of finding the “thing” that makes your pet special and immortalizing them in a completely custom and bespoke work of art. Andre Ponticello is a professional artist living and working in New York City. He was raised in a family of artists surrounded by beloved pets of all kinds. As a boy he grew to cherish animals with all his heart, and his earnest love for them has only grown. He attended Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA. for his Bachelors in Fine Arts, and Tyler School of Art for his Master’s of Fine Arts. In both programs he specialized in sculpture and honed his skills and craftsmanship. Currently he is the lead fabricator for sculptor Matthew Barney, and previously assisted Theaster Gates and Matthew Day Jackson.
